(Internet) radio connects us all

A big thanks to The Rhythm Doctor for playing Jasmine Tutum & Madtone‘s What is Man/Promised Land (Blossoms Kitchen dubplate mix) on this week’s Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room on IDA Radio at 5.33 minutes in then followed by The Nairobi Sisters Promised Land dub.

So you fancy an excellent Monday morning listen tune into IDA Radio (Tallinn) at 9am – 11am for the best in jazz, downbeat, dub, ambient, reggae and lots of other eclectic stuff. It’s well worth tuning into! There’s lot of the shows archived here.

Here’s hoping

The weather isn’t looking too great for the Easter weekend so who knows how much gardening we’ll get in. This week we’ve tried to do an little bit in the garden (weather permitting) after work for an hour or so. As you know a lot of small chunks out there really does add up and in the long run saves you a good bit of time.

The first tune for tonight is from a good few years ago which shamefully we’ve never heard of before or even the artist for that matter, it’s from Axel Boman and it’s called Sunrise Over Slussen. It’s on the strange side with a lovely piano riff, a great percussive sound and even some noises that Joe Meek would be very proud of towards the end. Very odd but very catchy. Lovely stuff!

The next is a cracking piece called Champion Sound Dub from Ono-Sendai Sound out of Tilburg, Netherlands. It’s a heavy understated piece and one that’s been played over and over a few times today.

And the final one from The Impossible Dreamers with a tune called Spin was heard on this week’s Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room on IDA Radio (Tallinn) and it’s from 1982 can you believe! What a mad tune.

Morning all from Estonia

Big shout to our good mate The Rhythm Doctor for sending us a weather report out of the studio window of IDA Radio, Tallinn this morning. They’ve just had some snow out there and the top temperature in Tallinn for this forthcoming week is predicted to be -5 C. We’re certainly will not be complaining about the weather here!

If you want to listen to something great on a Monday morning tune in here for a two hour selection of Jazz, Reggae, Electronica and downbeat from 9am. It’s a show well worth tuning into!

Much more (than) music

Big shout to our good friend The Rhythm Doctor for playing this excellent tune below by URBS called Ever Golden on this week’s Waiting Room radio show on IDA Radio (Tallinn). Tune in every Monday from 9-11am for a cross genre of quality breakfast classics from downtempo, funk, reggae and in-between.

Here’s a couple more radio shows this time of the shortwave variety this Sunday 9th July 2023 from the Imaginary Stations Crew. The first is at 2000 utc (9pm UK time) on 6160 khz where X-Raydio will be broadcast to Europe via the services of Shortwave Gold in Germany (whose motto is “Shortwave Radio is dead – Long live Shortwave Radio”).

If you haven’t a shortwave radio, tune in here on Sunday evening at 9pm UK time.

There’ll be some dub, some trumpets and then some dub with trumpets. Tune in for some blazing horns! If you haven’t a shortwave radio, tune in at 11pm UK time here. Remember, radio is where it’s at!

We heard it on the radio

Cheers to our good friend The Rhythm Doctor for playing this chilled out piece of summer inspired balearica from John Beltran called La Hermosa Vista on his excellent Monday morning radio show “The Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room” (all shows available here). If you want two hours containing some great tunes from chilled, funk, reggae, jazz and a lot more on a Monday morning you want to be tuning into IDA RadioTallinn from 9-11am UK time. Here’s this week’s show:

Rock the musical (and gardening) atmosphere

As heard on today’s Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room on IDA Radio (Tallinn) (from 8am-11am UK time every Monday) here’s a well chilled and dubby classic from a few years ago and very much a favourite here!

Also a related tune from the great Lee Perry (RIP) also heard on the same show a few weeks previously. Tunes!

And while we’re there, let’s not forget this one…

Odds and ends

There won’t be many words in this post just mainly pictures from the garden earlier. The first (below) is the result of the random throwing around of seed when receiving them from ebay (This is possibly from a wild flower mix). With the flowers we very rarely mark out seed drills and stick down plant labels, it’s straight out of the bag and onto the bed.

And the second is a rather strange and wonderful freshly picked tomato. It seems a shame to eat it!

And the third is the super tall Sunfower looking down on us ready to flower. This one next to the garage is nearly 10 foot. Bonkers.

And on in the background whilst we were writing this post was this week’s Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room on IDA Radio Tallinn (every Monday from 8-11 UK time and archived here). There’s lots of musical goodness on the show as udsual and at the start some works from one Vladimir Tarasov teased in and out of other downtempo gear. A idea “stick it on the stereo” midweek summer evening listen.
