One Deck Pete on the radio

Weeds’ One Deck Pete is a member of the Imaginary Radio Stations crew who broadcast individually themed radio shows of an hour each (with appropriate station names/callsigns) which are beamed worldwide over shortwave radio thanks to the transmitters of WRMI Radio Miami International, Channel 292 and Shortwave Gold.

There’s been numerous broadcasts including: WGTR (Golden Throats Radio after the LP series of the same name), Radio Carillon (Bells, bells and more bells), CTRN (about the mighty locomotive) and KMRT a radio tribute to the retail giant Kmart. More episodes of the show here or on the KMTS – Imaginary Stations Mixcloud site above.

Pete has also contributed mixes to various other radio shows including the excellent North of the River Swan presented by Jesse Yuen. At 60 minutes in is his Weeds Up to me Knees dub mix that lasts an hour featuring some nice dubby business!

Free Radio Skybird/Radio Lavalamp

Big thanks to DJ Frederick Moe for including Weeds’ One Deck Pete on his excellent Free Radio Skybird/Radio Lavalamp project which was transmitted monthly via Channel 292 from Rohrbach in Bavaria, Germany on 7440/6070/3955 kHz in the 41/49/75 Metre shortwave bands. The collective paid homage to the glory days of shortwave radio and the offshore pirates of the 60’s/70’s. #shortwavesnotdead #freeradioskybird #channel292

On Sunday 21st June 2020 the fifth in the series of One Deck Pete’s “Tunes to cheer you up” was transmitted. The tune was an early rough mix of Jazz’min & Madtone‘s Return to the branches. Not stereo as per but better then the last recording.

On Sunday 7th June 2020 the fourth in the series of One Deck Pete’s “Tunes to cheer you up” was transmitted. The tune was Es-K with Who knew (Instrumental) on Cold Busted Recordings. Not the best conditions this week, blame the lack of sunspots for that!

The Monday 13th April transmission featured the first in One Deck Pete’s “Tunes to cheer you up” series with one by Funk Reverse with “In & Out” (DJ Moy’s dub version.) Added percussion, noises and effects thanks to groundwave propagation and the ionosphere.

The 29th March 2020 transmission brought us One Deck Pete’s “Radio fanatics of the world unite” mix. Tracks are Nadezha Orlova with Dance of drops, Duce Haus with The Stumble & The Sin and Yemanjo/Monarch Duo with Roma. Additional effects by the ionosphere recorded with an online SDR.

The 1st September 2019 transmission featured One Deck Pete’s Soothing sounds of shortwave below. Apologies in sound quality as it’s been recorded off an software defined radio on the web. This is what the mix sounded like 1,300 miles away from the transmission site (here).

The 4th August 2019 transmission featured One Deck Pete’s Soul on shortwave below. Apologies in sound quality as it’s been recorded off an software defined radio on the web.
