After some stress in the garden this morning it’s nice to put your feet up and listen to some good tunes. Here’s an excellent one from The Itals with Brutal. A big shout to Stevyn Iron Feather Journal‘s Towne Club Records collection of remixes and alternate versions of Pink Floyd’s Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast which are all up in their glory here. It features a remix (below) by our very own Madtone called Pete’s Ambient Breakfast.
This tune later formed the basis of Jazz’min & Madtone‘s Earth Citizen which was featured on Echo Chamber – Around The World In Dub Vol 9 & 10 by Dan Dada Records a set well worth downloading here and it’s all for FREE as are all of the Around The World in Dub series are.
Stevyn has informed us that they are still seeking remixes, dubs, edits, extended, cover versions, mashups, etc. of this song done in any genre or styles. There won’t be many words in this post just mainly pictures from the garden earlier. The first (below) is the result of the random throwing around of seed when receiving them from ebay (This is possibly from a wild flower mix). With the flowers we very rarely mark out seed drills and stick down plant labels, it’s straight out of the bag and onto the bed.
And the second is a rather strange and wonderful freshly picked tomato. It seems a shame to eat it!
And the third is the super tall Sunfower looking down on us ready to flower. This one next to the garage is nearly 10 foot. Bonkers.
And on in the background whilst we were writing this post was this week’s Rhythm Doctor’s Waiting Room on IDA Radio Tallinn (every Monday from 8-11 UK time and archived here). There’s lots of musical goodness on the show as udsual and at the start some works from one Vladimir Tarasov teased in and out of other downtempo gear. A idea “stick it on the stereo” midweek summer evening listen.
This Sunday evening the 15th August 2021 at 2300 UTC (Midnight UK time) is a transmission from WSFR (Radio Swiss Family Robinson) via WMRI on 9395 kHz. Expect an hour of island related tunes and also a mix from One Deck Pete called “All washed up”. The mix includes tracks by Le Emjaén, Kingbastard, WES WAX, Scientist and islandman. Last night when researching the next mix for the shortwaves we came across the wonderfully brilliant The Sound of Shellac from Norway on Bandcamp. Talk about an eclectic mix of musical madness and available in a name your price style. Here’s a few of our favourites but do have a look at the site and explore!

It’s all gone a bit bonkers in the garden here what with the good weather of late plus the combination of the rain we had a few weeks previous to that. The veg in the raised beds (above) are tearing away and the spuds are almost flowering.
We’ve let the grass go a bit wilder due to No Mow May and we’re beginning to like the idea. I think it’s the council gardening background made us a bit reticent to let the lawn grow more than a few inches. The only thing is now that we can’t see where our old cat leaves its “presents” so we have to go by smell and tread very carefully in the evening.
The pond is going great after the big pond liner change. The fish seem to like it and we’ve even got tadpoles in there now and we didn’t even spot any frogspawn beforehand. We were told many years ago by a workmate that down the Walworth Road one Sunday in the 1960’s “It rained frogs” (a report of raining frogs in Croydon here), perhaps it could’ve been raining tadpoles overnight in Forest Hill recently?
And the bed next to the new fence has come alive with new plants procured from the market, garden centre and seeds off ebay and friends. The comfrey plants that usually go mad have probably been checked when the fence went in so the comfrey feed has suffered so far but you never know as we’ve got a few months yet. But can you believe that it’s really June? We cant.
