A big thanks to Andy ‘Madhatter’ Holmes and Pete Haigh from Funkology on BBC Radio Lancashire’s On The Wire for alerting us to this early Philly tune from Ruth McFadden. And what a tune!
Seeds, tips and tunes
Big shout to Stevie B, Fenny and Jim for playing this tune on Saturday’s On The Wire and what a lovely bit of reggae it is, from San Diego’s Tribal Seeds (more on their soundcloud here).
Another great tune this time straight out of Yorkshire on the mighty Scotch Bonnet Records from Danny T, Tradesman featuring Mark Iration called Up Deh. Tune!

Two things to get stuck into. Firstly a big thanks to Mark at the Thompson & Morgan blog for including one of our tips in the interesting “Seed and seedling tips…” post here that’s worth having a look at. There’s lots of other posts on the blog that’ll hopefully float your gardening boat too.
Also the above has been listened to twice today, “Greetings music lover” the story of one of our favourite shows “On The Wire” on BBC Radio Lancashire and Steve Barker who keeps it all together. It’s a lovely documentary about a very interesting radio show. Big up On The Wire!

Dahlias on the wire
A big thanks to Steve Barker, Fenny and Jim from the excellent On The Wire on BBC Radio Lancashire for including the track A Dahlia state of mind by Madtone on their 6th August show. It’s the final track at 1hr 57mins in.

I can see clearly now
Here’s a pic of a bare patch of earth down the bottom of the back garden. Up until last week that area was piled high full of cuttings and prunings collected over a few years (including two years worth of christmas trees no less.) Now thanks to Lewisham Council’s new garden refuse bin filled over a four week period, it’s all gone. Result!
To celebrate this historic achievement here’s two tunes. The first is a super piece of electronica from Niccolò Cupo called Panta Relics I (Luv*Jam Xylo Remix) heard on Jose Padilla’s Essential Selection from last year (a great mix by the way, available here.)
The second is the other side of Beam Up’s Gerrup (that was played on the excellent BBC Radio Lancashire show On The Wire a few weeks ago.) Vibin’ is a cracker out on the recently discovered 45Seven label (one well worth looking into/hearing on their soundcloud here.) Big up the brown garden refuse bin!
I’ve had years of being on the wire
A massive birthday shout out to Steve Barker, Fenny and Jim for Thirty years of the excellent On The Wire on BBC Radio Lancashire. Well worth tuning into Live on a Saturday night from Midnight to 2am on Sunday or on Listen again here. Cheers for the One Deck & Popular and Madtone radio plays in the past, it’s appreciated!
On last week’s show Fenny replayed his first record he ever spun on the show, one that I’ve never heard before by the ace Mark Perry (I’m very partial to Mark’s delivery of Reggae, ATV’s Life after Life is one of my favourite ever tunes!) with a cover of a BB Seaton/Ken Boothe’s “Whole world’s down on me.” I didn’t even know of that one either. Cheers to On The Wire for passing on their musical knowledge yet again!
While we’re on the subject of great radio shows, a big shout goes out to our good friend Dr Strangedub for playing a track off Hayereyah’s new CD on this week’s (September 10th) Echo Chamber on KFAI available on listen again here. Big up the radio!
