Another big big tune from Mungo’s Hi-Fi featuring Cian Finn. This release is very haunting and one that you bellow “Don’t finish!” when it comes to the fade-out. “In a Irish traditional style, in a Scottish traditional style”. We need the dub of this, badly!

An antidote to the common cold pt.36
Alter Echo & E3 meet Ishan Sound & Rider Shafique – Ah mi guide (Egoless remix)
This corker of a tune was first heard on Steve Barker’s On the Wire the other month and thanks to Scotch Bonnet records it’s available now. This tune cuts the common cold stone dead!
Not a prediction for today’s weather
We celebrated Record Store Day 2018 (supported by BBC Music) at Weeds by putting two coats of Cuprinol on a garden gate (supported by two ham sarnies, a posh sausage roll and copious cups of tea.)
The Scotch Bonnet crew did it in a far better style by releasing a belter of a tune using a vocal from the late great Bim Sherman (courtesy of Adrian Sherwood) over a hard rhythm built by Mungo’s Hi-Fi as you can hear! Already played on On The Wire and I can hear this going down a storm on KFAI’s Echo Chamber as well as many others. May Scotch Bonnet and Mungo’s keep putting out such fine music forever!
A walking onion and a mid-week tune
This odd looking thing above is the strange Egyptian or walking onion and nearly ready to do its stuff. In a couple of weeks they’ll be bulblets growing at the top of the plant and possibly where that strange light green junction is on the stalk. We’ll keep you updated. More on the Egyptian onion here and here.
Big shout to Scotch Bonnet Records for letting us know about the latest release from Mungo’s Hi Fi featuring the great vocals of Eva Lazarus called Live my life. Look out for Amsterdam as well from the same project. Both big tunes here at weeds! Available here and here.

Current listening at Weeds HQ are some mixes sent to us by Feminine Hi-Fi after finding out about them via the great Scotch Bonnet Records on Facebook. We contacted the all-women project soundsystem from Brazil who sent us some links to great mixes of Brazilian female reggae vocal tunes compiled by Dani I-Pisces from the collective. They’re are well worth investigating! Volume 1 is below and here’s links to Volume 2 and Volume 3. Who said Reggae isn’t outernational?
