On the radio this evening is a transmission celebrating shortwave radio by the Imaginary Stations crew. It’s broadcast at 2300 UTC on 9395 kHz by WRMI and is called Kearsarge North Transmission Service (KNTS). Expect some ham radio/shortwave themed music, numbers stations and Ionosphere Jazz. Here’s more about the transmission tonight:

At 15.43 into the show there’s a shortwave inspired mix from One Deck Pete featuring tunes from Shortwave Sounds, Kwook, Jodey Kendrick, Yomakomba and a shortwave exclusive of a remix of Nocturnal Emissions by Madtone. After the transmission a recording of the show will be available on their mixcloud site here.

Tomorrow Sunday 6th November 2022 from 2300 UTC on 9395 kHz shortwave there will be another episode of WREN in a renaissance style. The hour long show will include tunes with “harmony that places a greater concern on the smooth flow of the music and its progression of chords.”

There’s another mix in a renaissance style from One Deck Pete at 17 minutes in featuring: Beyond the Wizards Sleeve, Deega, O.G. Jigg and Baroque Baroque. Tune in and enjoy another journey back to the time when the lute was all over the musical charts.

Fingers crossed all stops will be pulled out this weekend via WRMI with the broadcast of TOOTS vs WELK. This programme in the Imaginary stations series will be a showdown of music from Toots Thielemans in the left hand corner and the great Lawrence Welk in the right. The transmission will be on air on 9395 kHz from 2200 utc on Sunday 28th August 2022. Tune in for a great musical encounter!

At 16 mins in there’s One Deck Pete with A Harmaccordian mix Kimmo Pohjonen & Frane Milčinski, Les Negresses and Errol Dunkley featuring Dreadful Julio amongst others.

And for a Monday afternoon here’s a nice downtempo number from Aux25 called No Turning Back (Adham Shaikh Remix).

Here’s the studio audio from last night’s KTAB, the latest in the Imaginary Radio Stations series transmitted to the world via the valves and wires of WRMI.

At 24 minutes into the recording is One Deck Pete’s “I’ve got those broadcast blues”. Here’s the full track listing of the 15 minute mix complete with the Bandcamp sites the tracks were obtained from. Do check them out as there were a lot of interesting stuff on the labels, Death is not the end feature tons of tunes from Jamaican Doo Wop to Pirate Radio Adverts from the Acid House days and as for Canary Records, there’s a truck load to explore there!

This Sunday the imaginary radio stations crew have a right treat for you. KTAB will be featuring “Yesterday’s music today” on 9395 kHz at 2200 utc on Sunday 31st July 2022 via the magic of the wireless.

The show will feature all sorts of old time music from the year dot to the late 1950’s including a mix called “I’ve got those broadcasting blues” from One Deck Pete at 24 minutes in featuring this classic from Keith & Enid called “Worried over you”. Tune into the shortwave time machine.

Cheers to everyone who have been sending us recommendations of accordion tunes over the last week or so on Twitter coinciding with our two WELK transmissions.

Thanks to CatfaceMcMeowMeow for sending us two tunes, the first from Patrick Wolf called Pigeon Song. This isn’t a million miles away from us here at SE23 as it seems he may be from the parish of Brixton. Good tune!

And we love this one from Red Elvises called Memoirs of a Phuket Geisha. Brilliant! Thanks CatfaceMcMeowMeow!

Steve Barker from the great On The Wire radio show played a track off this LP by Pauline Oliveros the other week. Great cover by the way and what a smart accordion!

And also thanks to Mark Paytress for suggesting these two which contain some serious squeezebox. The first is from Melanie called In The Hour which features some nice bass playing too.

And also this one Back Street Girl from The Rolling Stones. Cheers Mark!

And this tickled us the other day, an example of that well-know thing Air Accordion, brilliant stuff and we love his smile!
