This Sunday 7th March 2021 (and repeated a week later) at 12 noon UTC/UK sees a transmission by KDUB on 9670 kHz in 31 Metre band on shortwave. There’s a whole hour of some great drum and bass heavy music including a mix by One Deck Pete called “In Dub for KDUB”. If you haven’t a shortwave radio to hand click here at 12 noon this Sunday. Also check the KMTS mixcloud site here after transmission for a recording of the whole show.

And here’s a tune that isn’t on KDUB but it is a classic and a tune with the great Mark Perry on vocals, Alternative TV with Life After Life from that grand old year of 1977.

I’ve had years of being on the wire

A massive birthday shout out to Steve Barker, Fenny and Jim for Thirty years of the excellent On The Wire on BBC Radio Lancashire. Well worth tuning into Live on a Saturday night from Midnight to 2am on Sunday or on Listen again here. Cheers for the One Deck & Popular and Madtone radio plays in the past, it’s appreciated!

On last week’s show Fenny replayed his first record he ever spun on the show, one that I’ve never heard before by the ace Mark Perry (I’m very partial to Mark’s delivery of Reggae, ATV’s Life after Life is one of my favourite ever tunes!) with a cover of a BB Seaton/Ken Boothe’s “Whole world’s down on me.” I didn’t even know of that one either. Cheers to On The Wire for passing on their musical knowledge yet again!

While we’re on the subject of great radio shows, a big shout goes out to our good friend Dr Strangedub for playing a track off Hayereyah’s new CD on this week’s (September 10th) Echo Chamber on KFAI available on listen again here. Big up the radio!

Pull the udder oneHere’s a mad old strawberry found this morning that looks like something out of a 1970’s episode of “That’s Life!” This wouldn’t be on sale at your local Sainsbury’s, would it? It might look odd but it tasted alright to me! I didn’t know strawberry’s suffer from being “forked” like carrots do, but hey ho, that’s Life! How I used to hate that programme. “That was some very funny odd-odes from Cyril Fletcher and before that, a carrot that looked like a rude body part. Now Doc…” Ivor Biggun indeed!
