A bike’s a bike, how do you describe a bike?

We love those 1970’s information films here and have spliced the “Lock Your Bike” classic film from 1974 over the top of a little bit of BiggaBush‘s excellent Beat Dem in Dub. A big cheers to BiggaBush for giving it the thumbs up and Gerry Hectic for linking the tune with the original video. What’s a frame number?

Big shout to Dr Strangedub who debuted the tune on the brilliant Echo Chamber here on KFAI at 96.40 mins in. If you love reggae and dub you must tune into this weekly show. Listen closely and you may even hear a couple more public information dub instrumentals. Big up the Echo Chamber!

Here’s another couple of classic films from time gone by.

As Half Man Half Biscuit once sang “It was loft ladders what killed our Martin”. If only Martin had watched a public information film before his trek into the loft as he would be around to tell his tale now.

Shout to all the twin cities reggae radio crew

A big shout to our good friend Dr Strangedub who presents The Echo Chamber (with DJ Baby Swiss ) on KFAI out of Minneapolis, Minnesota for playing Jasmine Tutum & Madtone‘s Earth Citizen on this morning’s show at 37mins in (tune in here).

As we have said many times before, the Echo Chamber is the show to tune into on a Wednesday morning at 8am UK time for 4 hours (count them) of reggae, dub, downtempo and all sorts of bass heavy stuff and more. Cheers again Dr Strangedub!

And here’s a great track from the show called Don’t worry what the people think about you (Dub) from Dubblestandart & Jasmine Tutum.

Pigeons have a voracious appetite for brassicas

A big shout to Jon and George of the excellent Coughing Pigeon Radio Show on Brum Radio that plays “Not just sounds from across THE spectrum, but sounds from across EVERY spectrum” as the Brum Radio website desribes the show and they’re not wrong there!

On last week’s show they played at 19 minutes in Jazz’min & Madtone’s “Return to the branches” and at 42 minutes Stefanosis with Remembering Augustus off the great FREE Echo Chamber – Around the World in Dub Volume 11/12 on Dan Dada Records available here. Cheers Jon for plugging the compilation! Give Coughing Pigeon a listen if you’re looking for a great cross-genre listening experience!

How’s life in London?

It’s sweltering and it’s not even 12 noon yet! We’ve got KFAI on and tuned into the Echo Chamber and listening to the last few tunes of the programme played by DJ Baby Swiss AKA CAPNCOZY (who co-hosts with the one and only Dr Strangedub) and this one by Kliment & Tuatara called Super Moon was just played. Perfect for weather like this!

Dub poetry and US radio hams

We send a big shout to Dr Strangedub and DJ Baby Swiss for playing the new tune “This Frequency” from Jazz’min Tutum & Madtone at 56.55 minutes in (here) on this week’s Echo Chamber on KFAI. It’s a show worth tuning into if you like the reggae, dub and chilled side of life!

Tunguska Electronic Music Society – Arkady Pavlov – Lost in Love (off Tunguska Chillout Grooves vol. 3)

A mad little number heard on last week’s excellent Echo Chamber on KFAI. I can’t tell you why I like this track but I just do, odd but very catchy and one that stops and starts. One to listen to while lying down in the greenhouse watching the rain above while wearing a kaftan.

Dubbing it in a festive style

A big festive greeting to one and all! As Saint Nick’s on his way it’s only fitting that we post up this oldie but goodie after hearing it again on last week’s Echo Beach (which also features Madtone’s Dark Dread amongst other good stuff. Cheers for the play Terry C!)

We’re trying real hard to feel festive tonight as the rain is in horizontal mode and there’s a cyclone blowing outside (watch out for those flying cloches and greenhouses!) One show that’ll get us in the mood is Dr Strangedub and DJ Baby Swiss’ Echo Chamber on KFAI. Click here for their great Christmas in dub special.

Big up all our gardening/musical friends around the globe and we raise a glass to you all!

There is such a thing as a free lunch pt. 2

A big shout to Dr Strangedub and DJ Baby Swiss of KFAI’s Echo Chamber on their new compilation “Echo Chamber – Around the World In Dub Vol. 1 & 2”, two CDs worth of heavy dubwise, world-wize sounds available as a free download from Dan Dada Records. Featuring some excellent tuneage from Zion Train, Trevor The Technician McKenzie, The Mutant Frogs, Dubmatix, Kukan Dub Lagan and the debut single “Dark Dread” from Madtone (my good gardening self) from a few years back. A perfect compilation for blasting out while chilling out on a summer’s evening in the back garden. Available free from
