After the storm has gone…

Kuage – A Part Of You

A nice bit of off-the-wall electronica for a Thursday night heard on Rob Da Bank’s show over the last couple of weeks.

Busy Signal – Same Way

And another piece of tunage, heard this time on the Rt Hon David Rodigan’s show. A piece of minimal electro reggae straight out of the land of wood and water (and organ stabs straight out of toytown!)

Sarkodie Ft. E.L. – U Go Kill Me Instrumental

And by the power of youtube the instrumental the drum roll of which, reminds me of Bango (to the Batmobile) from the man like Todd Terry…”Let’s go!”

Todd Terry – Bango – To the Batmobile Lets Go

Mid-week blues (dance)

Chino & Di Genius – Roots Sound – Big Ship

Rodigan’s been giving this tune some stick of late, a lovely rootsy number from Chino & Di Genius (son of the great Freddie McGregor) and it wins “ lyric of the week” here at weeds as it rhymes “dances” with “Corduroy pants-es” and “Sister Nancy’s”, brilliant!

Earlier this evening I put the hose on the garden as the beds were looking a bit dry. You know what, as soon as I finish watering, the heavens opened! Great timing eh?

Burning hot!

Two Richie Stephens sizzlers to go with the bonkers weather here in the UK! Can you believe it’s 30 odd degrees in London today, madness! Big up David Rodigan on his excellent BBC 1 Xtra show for these and a lot more classics! If you ever hear that the great Mr Rodigan needs any Tomato plants or his Comfrey liquid is running low put him in touch with us and we’ll do our best to oblige!

Friday night in the place

Chronixx – Judgement – Asphalt Riddim Version (Liv up Records)

As I was only in work Monday and Tuesday, the only radio show I’ve been listening to this week was David Rodigan’s excellent one on BBC1 Xtra. He’s been playing some great tunes of late including this hard n moody instrumental of the great Judgement by Chronixx. Mad stuff indeed. Big up the great Roddy! Here’s the vocal:

Mag of the week!

Tweetah – Issue zero – A5 24 pages £1.50
We were very sad to hear that the excellent magazine Woofah (edited by John Eden) folded as it was a well produced and an informative reggae/dancehall/bass related read (and always well designed too!). It’s always the way isn’t it?
Last week on John’s Uncarved blog I noticed he was selling a fanzine called Tweetah. This is material that was intended for the fifth and final issue of Woofah that never materialised, bah! It’s a great little read, has an interview with David Rodigan, Carlton “Killawatt” Valley and a piece on Tony McDermott, designer of classic greensleeves album covers (Scientist, Lone Ranger etc) amongst other stuff. RIP Woofah! An excellent read for only £1.50 from http://www.uncarved.org/blog/
