20 years of radio fun

More shortwave radio fun coming this weekend on the 75 Metre band courtesy of Channel 292. A transmission to mark the 20th anniversary of All Indie Radio (WAIR) will be broadcast this Sunday 7th February 2021 (and repeated on Sunday 14th February 2021) at 1700 UTC/UK on 3955 kHz. Tune in for some great music.

The programme features our good friends from across the pond DJ Frederick, Justin Patrick Moore and a mix from One Deck Pete called “Thank You John Peel” (more on the late great John Peel here) with tracks by Mogwai, McCarthy, Young Marble Giants, Stereolab and Orange Juice.

No shortwave radio? No bother, tune in here at the allotted time.

A shortwave radio weekend

It’s a double dose of DJ Frederick‘s radio projects over the shortwaves this weekend. This Saturday 8th of August 2020 there’s the 2019 remix broadcast of Free Radio Skybird via Radio Onda in Europe on 5940 kHz at 1800 UTC (1900 UK time.) Listen out for One Deck Pete’s Sounds of the shortwave at 24.50 minutes in. If you haven’t a shortwave radio set tune in here to experience the sound of shortwave on an online software defined radio or listen in studio quality audio via Radio Onda‘s website here. 

On Sunday 9th August 2020 (and repeated the week after) at 2200 UTC (11pm UK time) on 3955 kHz via Channel 292 is Radio Lavalamp. The transmission will feature in One Deck Pete with a mix at 23 minutes in called The Purple Nucleus of Creation 002 featuring some great tunes from Drowsii, Nayl, Tabitha Project, Seventh Soul & Homayoun Shajarian and Camille Murray. Here’s a sneak preview of a forthcoming transmission from DJ Frederick’s Radio Lavalamp (“We’re bridging the gap between mystery and science. You’ve tuned to a cosmic flow of Radio Lavalamp on shortwave”) which will be broadcast on Sunday 12th July at 2200 UTC (11pm UK time) on 3955 kHz via Channel 292 in the 75 metre band.

The transmission features our own One Deck Pete who supplied an experimental mix for the station called “The Purple Nucleus of Creation 001” which is at 21.48 minutes in on the soundcloud below.
