Just looking through tunes for this weekend’s jolly at AUDIOTOPIA and found this odd tune from a long time ago which is very very catchy. It’s OMFO with Gutusl Electro. Excellent stuff! As they used to say on the adverts: Bring out the bag pipes!

To coincide with Gusty Ferro‘s Hello Neighbours, The Solidarity Sound System presents an evening of dub sounds and sonic experimentation.
From reverbs, echoes, and classic dub tunes, to low-frequency bass and experimental electronic aural affects, dub’s vast musical influence includes Hip Hop, Techno, D&B, Jungle, Drill and more. But Dub’s wider social legacy is its construction of sonic and social free spaces, that parallel its emphasis on the modification, reuse and alteration of sound. DJs and performers include: Gusty Ferro, members of the Electronic Audio Club, Jesse Yuen, Florent Caillibotte, One Deck Pete, Diet Cola Sounds with more tbc.
The Solidarity Sound System is a community sound system built by members of RTM and the wider community in 2021 with the support of artist Clara Smith and funded by Three Rivers Bexley.

And in the afternoon of the 26th, Jesse Yeun will be presenting his excellent North Of The River Swan show live from TACO! from 4-6 pm with One Deck Pete playing a few records and having a bit of a natter. Tune in next Saturday at 4ish on the listen live link on this page here. This tune below may be played or may not.
We were going to post up an episode of North Of The River Swan but here’s another programme presented by Jesse called Golden Apples in Dub which features a great version excursion of “Baby I Love you so”/”King Tubby meets the rockers uptown” featuring a few different tunes we’d never heard of before including this one which is excellent!
Then after that feature ends is this wonderful tune from Bandulu which we still have on a John Peel show cassette somewhere. We forgotten how good it is and it was nice to hear it again. Tune in to RTM FM next week at 4pm.

A big shout to our good friend across the pond Justin Patrick Moore for sending us pictures of his indoor plants that are now being transferred back into the house after a summer outside in the garden. That’s a great load of plants there.

As we’ve mentioned before, we’re not the best at keeping houseplants here but are getting better with the watering/non-watering days. Great pictures Justin!
Also here’s a great video with Justin giving an interesting talk about his excellent book The Radio Phonics Laboratory, more about that here. If you love radio and electronic music do give it a watch and get the book as it’s a great read.
Cheers to Rich R up in the Lake District for sending us some rather bonkers aurora pics from the other Thursday. Crazy, crazy stuff indeed!
Seeing this cosmic coloured sky, we wouldn’t be suprised if there’s also reports of a Gort-like robot out of The Day The Earth Stood Still seen walking down (carrying a large tote bag of course) to the Village Shop to get some lovely home-made confectionery before he starts his night-shift guarding flying saucers and the like. Cheers Rich for the wonderful pictures. All we can say here is wow!

Over the years we’ve discovered some great reggae tunes featuring some strange bed fellows instrument-wise including (above) this bit of banjo dub by Andy’s All-Stars called Banjo Serenade (Cheers Steve Barker for playing this). And it was only a couple of weeks we found out about the great Alex Porteus/Jah Bottle Head (actually caught in action using said instrument at 18 seconds in and a few more times below).
And tonight we have found some harp dub. The below is from Lo Free Meditation, T-key Free Meditation, Ha Lan Leduc and called Hola Harp part 1. Wonderful stuff!
Cheers to our good mate Gerry Hectic for sending us over this classic with the great Francois Kevrokian on the mix of 3 Generations Walking.
We do know Morrissey was never keen on FK’s this mix of his tune but we always were. No hanging of any DJs please, well not this evening. Have a good Friday evening!
God only knows what awful damage Hurricane Milton is doing in Miami and surrounds at the moment but “Hurricane force winds” (over 14,000 mph) expected in Forest Hill today?Blimmin’ eck!
While going through some tracks this evening we found this excellent dub from Leo James called Daydream In Dub featuring one Ed Gooden.
It’s brilliant stuff and doesn’t even feel like the seven minute track it is. When we saw the length of the track we initially thought “that’s going to go on for a bit” but the truth of the matter is it could go on for much longer for us here. Wonderful stuff from way back in 2016. The 12″ is £34 on discogs which is a bit out of our reach but a super tune anyway.
And another slumber related tune, this time from the great “Sleepy” himself Horace Andy with Krak in Dub from Paris with “Stop borrow dub”. It’s on an uptempo tip and one to be played loud!
So nice the intstrumental has got to be played too!

Walking down into Honor Oak Park today we noticed a grapevine coming out of the scrub and bramble bushes from the bottom of One Tree Hill. We took a closer look and there’s fruit, Chateaux (pronounced chat-ox) Forest Hill anyone? There’s an excellent piece about One Tree Hill if you’re interested here.

And while looking for bottle themed records found out about an artiste called Jah Bottle Head aka Alexander Portious who plays wonderful instrumentals using a comb and bottle or just a bottle head. Whatever he uses, it is a brilliant sound. Here’s his version of Gregory Isaacs’ Love is overdue.
And then we found this one below with a crazy dub, nearly a ton on discogs! We were feeling a bit down earlier and these tunes from the great Alexander Porteous/Jah Bottle Head have really cheered us up. First bottle and comb dub anyone?
And there’s a version of Everything I Own (plus Bottle Head Overdue) at 11.42 on this LP that has some other wonderful tracks on it. “King Tubby’s and Errol T are our engineers this evening”.
Raise your glass to Jah Bottle Head!
